Dear Halifax Field Naturalists,

… Some of your members might be interested in participating two upcoming conservation volunteer events in Nova Scotia. The event details are as follows:


Brier Island Plant and Sweep

Date: June 12th, 2010

Closest Town: Westport, NS

Meeting Time:  9:30 am

Join the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) as we restore sensitive habitats on Brier Island, by planting native trees and shrubs, roping off dunes from motorized vehicles, and collecting waste. Brier Island is home to many rare and beautiful plants and is a birder’s paradise. Lunch will be provided. Tusket Lakeshore Bioblitz

Date: August 19-20, 2010

Closest Town: Yarmouth, NS

Meeting Time: 9:00am (Tentative - to be confirmed).

Are you a skilled botanist?  A proficient canoeist? If so, you're welcome to join invited experts and the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) staff to help inventory species groups such as plants, butterflies and dragonflies that are found in the coastal plain area of the Lower Tusket River Watershed.
