Monday, September 27, 2010 – Ecology of Coastal Barrens

coastal barrensPlant ecologist Jeremy Lundholm of Saint Mary’s University will talk to the NS Wild Flora Society about research he and his students have been conducting on Nova Scotia’s coastal barrens. These barrens, which occur mainly along the Atlantic Coast, host a number of provincially rare vascular plant species. Their research involves quantitative description and investigations into their dynamic interplay with forests. All welcome. N.S. Natural Resources Minister pressured to discount Bancroft-Crossland Recommendations

Aug. 7: Maritimes Butterfly Atlas Training Session

butterflyWorkshop begins 1 pm at K.C. Irving Environmental Centre at Acadia University. At the workshop you’ll receive specific instruction on how to participate in the Maritimes Butterfly Atlas. All participants will receive an Atlas kit including a butterfly net and a participants’ manual. The workshop is open to anyone interested in participating in the Atlas. No prior knowledge of butterflies is required and there is no charge. Read more
