Development pressures on Williams Lake & Environs

The April 2012 newsletter for the Williams Lake Conservation Co. describes recent development pressures in the Williams Lake area. They want to ensure continued public access to Williams Lake via the Purcell’s Cove Road trail and appropriate protection for water quality. See newsletter. Their AGM is on Monday May 14th 7:30 pm at the William Spry Centre, all welcome. “Your involvement will be particularly needed this year with major developments occuring in the Williams lake watershed area. Wed. May 2, 2012: Climate Change Impacts McNabs Island

At the Friends of McNabs Island Society 22nd AGM, keynote speaker Gavin Manson, a Coastal Geologist with the Natural Resources Canada will present an illustrated talk entitled the Shorelines of McNabs Island in a Changing Climate, a photographic tour of how the island’s coastline is changing due to storm surges, hurricanes and coastal erosion. The BIO-based geologist will discuss his findings from a 15-year investigation of the island’s dramatically changing shoreline using historical maps, photos, and charts and recent satellite images.7:00 pm at Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, Small Craft Gallery 1675 Lower Water Street, Halifax.
